About me
Taraneh Karim is an Educational Technology Innovation Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Torrance Unified School District with more than a decade of experience in education. Before transitioning into educational technology, she taught middle and high school social science, where she supported students with a wide range of learning needs and backgrounds, from English learners and Advanced Placement students to students receiving special education services. Taraneh has been instrumental in leading her district's AI initiatives, helping develop AI guidelines, policies, and professional learning that support responsible, equitable implementation across TK-12 schools. She has presented at national and international AI and educational technology conferences, was named an ASU+GSV AI Showcase Finalist, and has been featured on Spectrum News and PBS for Torrance Unified's innovative work with artificial intelligence. She is passionate about empowering educators to thoughtfully integrate emerging technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and student success.
